The O Street Market serves as the cornerstone of a 1,000,000 sf project that features a flagship, state-of-the-art Giant Food store, 650 residential units of which 90 are set aside as affordable for active adults, a 182-room Cambria Suites hotel, additional retail, and over 500 parking spaces.

 

Constructed in 1881, the O Street Market was one of several public markets that served Washingtonians during the 19th Century. Over the years, the Market functioned not only as a market but as a place for residents to meet and socialize. The project revitalizes the historic O Street Market, restoring and incorporating it into a new 78,000 sf Giant Food.  The new store combines the charm of the 19th Century with the sophistication of 21st Century efficiency creating one of Washington's largest food stores and unique and interesting neighborhood shopping experiences. CityMarket at O serves as the catalyst for the revitalization of the Shaw community, one of Washington's oldest commercial, residential, and cultural districts. CityMarket at O is a 10 minute walk to the Verizon Center and Gallery Place, the hub of the city's entertainment district, and one block north of the 2.3 million-square foot Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
